APPLY FOR THE 30-DAY VIRTUAL ACCOUNTING INTERNSHIP

Can you work through the accounting tasks that happen in a real business?

First, let's check your accounting foundation.

Before you proceed, you'll complete three short practical accounting scenarios covering transaction processing, reconciliation and month-end adjustments.

This is only an initial readiness check.

Question 1 of 3: Your company purchased office equipment on credit from OfficeMart Ltd for $2,500,000. Which accounts should be affected?

ACCOUNT (COA) DEBIT ($) CREDIT ($)

Question 2 of 3: Your company's cash book shows a bank balance of ₦1,250,000, while the bank statement shows ₦1,180,000.

You discover that a bank charge of ₦20,000 and a direct debit of ₦50,000 have not yet been recorded in the cash book. What should you do?

Question 3 of 3: At month-end, your company has an unpaid electricity bill of GBP180,000 relating to the current month. The supplier has not yet sent the invoice. What accounting treatment is required?

Your Accounting Readiness Check Is Complete!

You've completed the three practical scenarios. Reveal your result to see whether you can proceed to the next stage of the VAI application process.

📌 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Do I need previous accounting software experience?

No. The Virtual Accounting Internship is focused on developing your ability to perform practical accounting work. You should, however, have a basic accounting foundation and be ready to apply what you know through practical tasks, business scenarios, assignments, and assessments.

Is the Virtual Accounting Internship physical or online?

The Virtual Accounting Internship is 100% online and fully virtual. You can participate remotely and complete your assigned work from wherever you are.

Is this a real company internship?

No. The Virtual Accounting Internship is a structured simulated workplace experience.

You will work through realistic business situations, accounting tasks, assignments, and assessments designed to help you practise the type of accounting work you may be expected to perform in a workplace.

The simulation provides a structured environment where you can practise, receive feedback, identify errors, correct your work, and improve as you progress.

How does the 30-day internship work?

The internship follows a structured 30-day programme. You will be given practical accounting tasks, business scenarios, assignments, and assessments to complete throughout the programme.

Each task has a purpose, deadline, and expected standard. You are expected to complete and submit your work within the specified timeframe.

Is attendance and participation compulsory?

Yes. The VAI is not a self-paced course that you can join occasionally and complete whenever you feel like it.

You are expected to participate consistently, complete your assigned tasks, meet submission deadlines, and maintain the required standard throughout the programme.

What happens if I do not complete my assigned tasks?

The programme is performance-based. Participants who consistently fail to complete assigned tasks, miss required deadlines, fail to meet weekly requirements, or do not demonstrate the required level of participation may be removed from the internship.

This is necessary because the VAI is designed to simulate the accountability and responsibility expected in a professional accounting environment.

Will my work be assessed?

Yes. Your assignments and practical tasks are assessed throughout the internship.

You will receive feedback that helps you identify errors, understand what needs improvement, and strengthen your ability to perform practical accounting work.

What if I make mistakes in my assignments?

Mistakes are part of practical learning. What matters is your ability to understand the feedback, correct your work, and improve.

However, the VAI is not a programme where simply submitting work is enough. You are expected to demonstrate improvement and meet the required standards as you progress.

What practical accounting tasks will I work on?

Throughout the internship, you will work through practical accounting areas such as transaction processing, customer and supplier transactions, receivables and payables, general ledger and trial balance, reconciliation, error detection, payroll, journal entries, month-end adjustments, financial reporting, and complete accounting workflows.

Can I participate using my mobile phone?

Yes. The Virtual Accounting Internship is designed for remote participation, and you can complete the programme using your smartphone.

A laptop or desktop may provide a more convenient experience for certain tasks, but you do not need a laptop to participate.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. Participants who successfully complete the requirements of the Virtual Accounting Internship will receive a certificate of completion.

Please note: A certificate is not automatically issued simply because you enrolled. You must successfully complete the programme requirements.

Is this a guaranteed job placement programme?

No. The Virtual Accounting Internship does not guarantee employment, job placement, or an internship with an external company.

Its purpose is to provide structured practical training through a simulated workplace environment, help you strengthen your accounting workflow skills, and give you practical work you can confidently discuss when applying for accounting opportunities.

What will I have at the end of the internship?

If you successfully complete the programme, you will have worked through a structured series of practical accounting tasks, assignments, business scenarios, and assessments covering the complete accounting workflow.

More importantly, you should have greater confidence in your ability to apply accounting knowledge to practical workplace situations.

30 DAYS. PRACTICAL TASKS. DEADLINES. ASSESSMENTS. FEEDBACK.

The VAI is designed to help you move beyond studying accounting and start practising the work.

If you are not prepared to participate consistently, complete your assignments, meet deadlines, and meet the programme requirements, this internship may not be for you.
